MIL-R-28704, MILITARY SPECIFICATION, RADIO RELAY EQUIPMENT, TRANSHORIZON (TROPOSPHERIC SCATTER) AN/TRC-97 (5 SEP 1969)., This specification sets forth the requirements for a tactical, multi-channelradio communication system terminal, hereinafter referred to as 鈥渢heradio set鈥? capable of providing shore based communications by means of troposphericscatter or line of sight propagation in the SHF band of 4.4 and 5.0gigahertz for the transmission and reception of 12 or 24, channels of voice,16 channels of teletype, and data communications at distances from 1 to 100 -nautical miles. The objective is to provide a radio set having a high degree ofreliability, capable of being readily operated and maintained. The radio setoperates from a nominal alternating current (AC) power source of 120/208volts, 400 hertz (Hz), 3 phase, 4 wire, wye.
