【摘要】:1.1Thisguidedescribesproceduresforobtaininglaboratorydataconcerningtheacutetoxicityofchemicalsandaqueouseffluentsreleasedintofresh,estuarine,ormarinewaters.AcutetoxicityismeasuredbyexposingBrachionusnewlyhatchedfromcyststoaseriesoftoxicantconcentrationsundercontrolledconditions.ThisguidedescribesatestforusingB.calyciflorus,afreshwaterrotifer,andtheAppendixdescribesmodificationsofthistestforestuarineandmarinewatersusingB.plicatilis.Theseproceduresleadtoanestimationofacutetoxicity,includingtheconcentrationexpectedtokill50%ofthetestrotifers(LC50)in24h.ProceduresnotspecificallystatedinthisguideshouldbeconductedinaccordancewithGuideE729andGuideE1192.1.2Modificationsoftheseproceduresmightbejustifiedbyspecialneedsorcircumstances.Althoughusingappropriateproceduresismoreimportantthanfollowingprescribedprocedures,theresultsoftestsconductedusingmodifiedproceduresmightnotbecomparabletorotiferacuteteststhatfollowtheprotocoldescribedhere.Comparisonoftheresultsusingmodifiedproceduresmightprovideusefulinformationconcerningnewconceptsandproceduresforconductingacutetoxicitytestsonchemicalsandaqueouseffluents.1.3Thisguideisorganizedasfollows:1.4Theseproceduresareapplicabletomostchemicals,eitherindividuallyorinformulations,commercialproducts,ormixtures.ThisguidecanalsobeusedtoconductinvestigationsoftheeffectsonrotifersurvivalofpH,hardness,andsalinityandonmaterialssuchasaqueouseffluents,leachates,oils,particulatematter,sediments,andsurfacewaters.Thisguidemightnotbeappropriateformaterialswithhighoxygendemand,withhighvolatility,subjecttorapidbiologicalorchemicaltransformation,orthatreadilysorbtotestchambers.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardsstatements,seeSection.
